Lisa Bell Clinical Psychologist

Hello
I'm a Clinical Psychologist working in private practice, as well as in community alcohol and drug treatment services. I provide evidence-based therapy interventions suited to an individual’s unique presentation and current needs. Primarily, I utilise Schema Therapy which I integrate with trauma treatments including EMDR, Imagery Rescripting and Flash Technique. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills training, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
My Approach
I have a particular interest supporting adults experiencing struggles with addiction, trauma, recurrent mood and anxiety disturbance, and in understanding long term unhealthy relationship patterns. I have a warm and authentic approach and I aim to collaborate with clients to create a safe, compassionate and curious space to explore their underlying needs.

From addressing mood disorders to enhancing emotional resilience, the practice is dedicated to promoting psychological well-being and empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives.
I chose the dandelion to represent my practice as they possess rich cultural and symbolic meanings across various societies. In many cultures, the act of blowing the fluffy white seed head, sending wishes on the wind, has ingrained the dandelion as a potent symbol of hope and dreams. Beyond wishes and happiness, dandelions are widely recognised for their resilience and ability to thrive in challenging environments, pushing through concrete and returning year after year. This tenacity has made them a powerful symbol of strength, perseverance, and the ability to overcome adversity. The transformative journey of the dandelion, from bright bloom to dispersing seeds, can mirror an individual's personal development, encouraging self-reflection on past experiences, the shedding of old habits and embracing new beginnings.
The dandelion's symbolism also finds resonance within the Schema Mode model, particularly in understanding and fostering the Healthy Adult mode. The image of the resilient dandelion, persisting despite external pressures, can serve as a powerful representation of the core capacities of the Healthy Adult mode. This mode embodies qualities of resilience, self-soothing, and the ability to meet one's needs in a balanced and adaptive way.
